Sunday 10 November 2019
Our evening remembrance service will be a performance of Fauré’s Requiem with Trinity Festival Choir and an instrumental ensemble.
As well as performing this well-loved masterpiece, which will be familiar to many of you through the sublime soprano solo Pie Jesu and the meltingly beautiful In Paradisum we will also be singing movements from Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light, a Requiem written in 2008, and music by Bob Chilcott, interspersed with reflective readings and poetry.
I’m sure you’ll agree that this is an attractive programme of choral music, bringing together the setting of a Requiem well-loved by generations of music lovers, with music from a more contemporary, personal expression of the Mass by Howard Goodall, in his own words: a Requiem for the living, a Requiem focusing on interrupted lives.’
